This is an exciting News for Nigerians Graduates as the federal government has announced the commencement of Nigeria Jubilee Fellowship Programme application portal.
The Nigeria Jubilee Fellowship Programme is a post-NYSC work placement programme which is aimed to reduce unemployment rate among Nigerian Graduates.
The announcement was made on Monday to suitable applicants and it is expected to run for six weeks period between September 6 to October 20, 2021.
This programme is an initiative between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Federal Government of Nigeria as a youth empowerment effort.
The aim is to connect graduates with job opportunities in their locality that help them to get the needed post-graduate experience which will equip graduate with practical skills and knowledge that will make them competitive in the ever changing job markets.
The President, Muhammad Buhari while flagging off the programme said: “The programme is expected to create new opportunities for 20,000 graduates annually while the beneficiaries will maximize the opportunities presented to them and also aims to equip Nigerians, with practical knowledge and relevant skills for 12 months, with or without job experience, thereby connecting them with local job opportunities,”
This programme also seeks to not just give applicants the opportunity to up their skills but give opportunity to get retained their respective host firms, serve as a platform to compete and get access to future employment opportunities while building in the graduates the needed entrepreneurial spirit for the country’s economy growth.
Criteria for application
To be an eligible fellow, the applicant must be a Nigerian citizen and a fresh graduate (Bachelor’s Degree) from any discipline and graduate no earlier than 2017.
Applicants must graduate with at least a Second Class Lower (2.2) and above and must be at most 30 years old.
Applicants must not be currently engaged in any employment and would have completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or have a certificate of exemption.
Also, applicants must demonstrate interest/commitment in the chosen career field and also demonstrate interest/commitment to contributing to Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
Applicants have excellent time management and a professional attitude and have good verbal and written communication skills.
